Hold academic council meeting offline, Lucknow University Teachers’ Association tells VC

लखनऊ विश्वविद्यालय शिक्षक संघ (LUTA) ने गुरुवार को विश्वविद्यालय के अधिकारियों को एक पत्र लिखकर 23 अगस्त को होने वाली शैक्षणिक परिषद (AC) की बैठक को ऑनलाइन मोड में आयोजित नहीं करने के लिए कहा।

LUTA ने कहा कि महत्वपूर्ण शैक्षणिक निर्णय एसी बैठकों में चर्चा और बहस के बाद लिए जाते हैं जो ऑनलाइन मोड में संभव नहीं है क्योंकि अक्सर कई तकनीकी गड़बड़ियां होती हैं और इसलिए इसे ऑफ़लाइन मोड में आयोजित किया जाना चाहिए।

“अब तक, ऑफ़लाइन मोड में एक भी एसी बैठक नहीं हुई है। जब सरकार ने विश्वविद्यालयों, कॉलेजों और यहां तक ​​​​कि स्कूलों को ऑफ़लाइन कक्षाएं फिर से शुरू करने की अनुमति दी है क्योंकि कोविड 19 मामलों में काफी गिरावट आई है, तो एसी की एक महत्वपूर्ण बैठक ऑनलाइन क्यों आयोजित की जा रही है, ”लूटा के महासचिव प्रोफेसर विनीत कुमार वर्मा ने सवाल किया।

उन्होंने कहा कि ऑनलाइन बैठकों के दौरान तकनीकी गड़बड़ियां महत्वपूर्ण मुद्दों पर चर्चा को प्रभावित करती हैं। “हाल ही में, प्रवेश और परीक्षा समिति की बैठकें ऑफ़लाइन आयोजित की गईं, फिर एसी, दूसरी सर्वोच्च शैक्षणिक संस्था, की बैठक ऑनलाइन क्यों आयोजित की जा रही है। हमने इस संबंध में कुलपति प्रोफेसर एके राय को पत्र लिखा है।’

The Lucknow University Teachers’ Association (LUTA) wrote a letter to the university authorities on Thursday asking them not to conduct the academic council (AC) meeting scheduled on August 23 in online mode.

LUTA said important academic decisions are taken in AC meetings after discussion and debates which is not possible in online mode since there are often several technical glitches and hence it should be held in offline mode.
“So far, not a single AC meeting has been held in offline mode. When the government has given permission to universities, colleges and even schools to resume offline classes as Covid 19 cases have dipped considerably then why an important meeting of AC is being held online,” questioned LUTA general secretary Prof Vineet Kumar Verma.

He said technical glitches during online meetings affect discussions on important issues. “Recently, admission and examination committee meetings were held offline, then why is the meeting of AC, the second apex academic body, being held online. We have written a letter to vice-chancellor Prof AK Rai in this regard,” he added LUTA also demanded that the agenda of the meeting should be circulated beforehand so that every member is prepared.
