The renovation of the LU hostels is finalised by the end of July.
The Lucknow University administration, which is preparing for the final year examination in August, has earlier intensified the work of repair of its hostels etc. so that it can be provided to more and more students as per the Covid guidelines if needed.
In this sequence, the repair and restoration works of the hostels were reviewed in the auditorium of the administrative building on Monday. At present the work of the first floor of Swarna Jayanti Hostel, Birbal Sahni Hostel, New Block of Kailash Hostel, PG Block and Kasturba Block is going on. Its work was affected due to Covid-19 infection, which is now being accelerated. Representatives of State Executive Organization Hous
ing and Development Council, Construction and Design Services, Jal Nigam and Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Limited were present in the meeting. In the review meeting, it was informed by the representatives of the executive organizations that by July 31, work by them would be made available to the university.
Departmental officials said that the work of new block of Kailash Hostel is affected due to the budget from the government, in which efforts are being made to allocate the budget. University spokesperson Dr. Durgesh Srivastava informed that after about four years Birbal Sahni hostel will be available for use, where 96 single seated rooms will be available for PhD students. He said that work is going on for 75 rooms in Kailash’s PG block and 12 rooms in Old Block, in which we will get many rooms by the end of July. These will be completed and made available for allotment to the students.
